Zaha Hadid designs new music hall in sync with J S Bach
Naresh Chauhan | May 4 2009

Designed to explore multiplicity by developing a coherent integration of formal and structural logic, the celebrated designer Zaha Hadid in collaboration with Manchester International Festival and Manchester Art Gallery is set to present a groundbreaking concert hall for the 2009 Festival. Capable of accommodating a small audience of 200 people, during each performance, the intimate chamber will “create a near-perfect visual and sonic environment,” for the audience to appreciate and enjoy the likes of pianist Piotr Anderszewski, cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras and violinist Alina Ibragimova, who’ll perform J S Bach’s solo instrumental works during the festival. Apart from hosting one of the most cherished music concerts worldwide, the unique project also promises to bring revolutionary architectural design to match the mathematical framework of Bach’s music.
