Uneven distribution of rain due to global warming has caused scarcity of drinking water in a number of Asian and African nations, forcing people to drink unhygienic water and fear numerous water-bound diseases. Providing a solution, Argentine designer Javier Arancibia has devised a vehicle the being apart hauling water from far-off places also purifies contaminated water and makes it worth drinking. Hailed as “TAP,” the vehicle is made of eight basic components that can be manufactured and assembled with simple technology. Taking the user to afar places in search of water, the TAP stores water (up to 21 liters) in its wheels, where contaminated water is purified by the centrifugal pressure generated by the spinning wheels. The centrifugal pressure passes the water through a membrane that only lets the water molecule, presenting purified water for drinking. Moreover, the pedal powered vehicle causes zero emission, reducing their carbon footprints.
