I just came across this 10″ toy that finds it inspiration in Indian God Ganesha designed by some New Yorker called Doze Green and I couldn’t stop myself from giving a slice of my opinion, out at this.
To my sheer astonishment came the fact that the chap has depicted the Hindu god of good luck and prosperity in utmost shameful manner. The all green piece is called The Doze Green Ganesha that features Ganesha wearing shoes and a bell shaped hat and sitting on a giant sound system.
We do not even take shoes at the place of worship and this person has portrayed Ganesha sporting funky shoes...topping the disgust is the act of making Lord hold his broken tooth.
I don’t understand the fact as to why Indian Gods are made a part and parcel of such ridiculous attempts...this was simply offending. Artists have made Indian God’s a subject to a great deal of insult by displaying them some of the most disparaging places including tissues and slippers.
Whatever may be the religion...and whosoever is the God...is a treatment like this worthwhile?

I couldn`t agree more with you Charu. People should pay proper respect to other’s religion. This would certainly make this world a more happy place.
well said, hope that the good guy will realise even after going through this article. Do respect the religious gods and synbols. dont make a joke of anything you want.
i do agee with charu that to insult a god even though he belong to any caste or creed is an highly irresponsible and insane act.
Toys are made so as to engage in recreation, and i think its highly irresponsible to make fun of such things and sentiments of people.
What kind of figurative painter this ‘self-proclaimed’ artist Doze Green, who smugly calls himself a ‘graffiti legend’, is? Apparently, the member of the Rock Steady Crew must have designed this insolent piece with a real steady and numb mind. Ganesha with shoes on and a broken tooth…it’s simply disgusting! Come on Doze…it’s time to get off the dozing and learn to respect deities of other cultures and stop whetting your appetite with your swollen pride.
Lord Ganesha, please forgive this poor chap, he’s really oblivious of what he’s doing…as you know…he’s Doze…ing.
I am a Christian here and seeing the toy really disgusts me too. There can be no justification for this. You know why bombs have come to haunt this world - coz of some thoughtless people like this.
You are absoluetly right Charu, poking fun at any religion like this is a very inhuman thing to do. But, believe me such things always come from retarded persons, so i guess that’s what we expect from such persons!!
This is most gratifying image and we could sue this person’s butt. This immoral and shallow lunatic should be held out on courts for scarilege!
I cannot describe my astonishment as this supremely insulting depiction of Lord Ganesha. Religious sentiments apart, I believe Ganesha is to most Indians, a secular symbol of prosperity. Denigrating him in this fashion is not acceptable. I agree with Mansi. We should sue this lunatic and show him that he cannot get away with idiocy so easily.
I also agree with you guys.
it’s not just our gods, our people too are treated indifferently in this world.
i spent some time working in England and was disgusted how prejudiced those people were to us.
it’s a shame how narrow minded and ignorant some people can be.
To all my hindi brothers and sisters,
I had no intention of desecrating lord ganeshas image.please excuse my ignorance.
i as an artist primarily express myself through deities and symbolism.it is my mission to reinforce the belief in cross cultural similarities not disimilaries,i.e.Christs journeys’ thru india and tibet learning
sacred buddhist doctrine and his sermon on the
mount speech.the mahabarata, babylonian creation stories and biblical stories etc.
i truly believe the human experience has
a common link in history.traditions and stories from our ancestors provide that link.
as far as lord ganesha is concerned i was attempting to portray him in a fashion that i
would portray any deity thru my eyes.what does it really matter what he is wearing,i thought what matters is how he resonates within you.i
humbly appologize to all hindu people worldwide if i have offended you.
please accept my apologies.
peace and blessings
