‘Sound’ phone is a mix and mash-up device for avid music lovers
Naresh Chauhan | Jul 9 2009

Designed by Chip Beal, the Sound is a mobile device illustrated as a celebration of the music of our everyday lives. Featuring a classic audio iconography and simple seashell shape, the Sound phone is a mix and mash-up device for the avid music lover. Users can mix and mash tracks via the touchscreen interface and send to their network of friends. Each mix creates a unique graphic tag which mutates as you add new mixes and new tracks. All you need to do is bring up the first track to represent your music by a unique graphic, then bring in the second track to mix its graphic with the first one and finally adjust the level between tracks with your 360-degree mix wheel to forward the mix to your friend. The Sound phone is an investigation into the future of emotional networking that expresses ideas of viral sounds and the possibility of mutation.
