Harnessing the vast source of sustainable energy, wind power, designer Toshihiko Suzuki (founder of the Toshihiko Suzuki Architect & Associates in 1990) has popped up with an outdoor lampshade that, other than illuminating your garden and streets, will keep our environmental footprint under control. Called “Mawaridoro,” the wind-revolving lantern requires wind speed of 1.5m/s to glow its LED light. The Mawaridoro also includes a nickel hydride battery that accumulates electricity to light up our streets and gardens during the night. Toshihiko is currently based in Tokyo and working as a professor of design systems at Metropolitan University.
