LED traffic light consumes less energy

Traffic lights require a hefty power and maintenance cost to keep these electricity hungry lights going 24 x 7 throughout the year. However, designer Stanislav Katz, improving on the square traffic lights has come up with an ingenious LED traffic light that helps in saving energy and cuts down the cost of construction - through its unique design - in a huge way, as it requires 3 times less details than the present lights. The LED traffic lights only need green and red bulbs, while the yellow shade is generated by illuminating both the bulbs (green and red) in unison. The use of LED not just reduces the consumption of electricity, but it also gives a cool look to the traffic lights.
