One of the largest in the U.S., the “Great Park,” has finally come to know the person who will put his mind behind the mega design. New York-based Landscape architect Ken Smith has been as master planner for the 1,347-acre park in Irvine, California.

The massive construction that will include might take decades to complete. As per Smith’s proposed plan, the park will have a man-made canyon, an amphitheatre, a linear park that will incorporate a fighter plane museum. Phase I of the project, including the infrastructure, will cost somewhere around $401 million.

Some of the parts of the park including sports fields are expected to open around 2008, while the first building is supposed to be ready by 2012.
