iLamp is a lamp with an iPod dock
Naresh Chauhan | Jul 4 2009

If you are one of those who love to listen to the music while studying or working on a workstation, designer Sergey Chernobay has devised a multifunctional device that fulfills your both lighting as well as music needs on your desk. Designed for the R/GA mobile music challenge, the “iLamp,” as the designer calls his device, is a concept table lamp that doubles as a docking station for your iPod/ iPhone or other MP3 players. The iLamp, lighting the music, allows the users to enjoy the surround sound with refined speakers located at the base of the lamp.

I really don’t think anyone except Apple should call their product an ’i’...

It really sounds bad and looks as though the design is living of Apples reputation and identity, think of something new... Like the random shade but I think its a very gimmicky product. Take the shade idea and develop a lamp from it without the gimmicks? Maybe some sort of amazing LED lamp, I don’t know your the designer.

The gimmicks might work if its more up market though? Maybe better materials, something that stands out, not blends in badly with ’i’stuff.

Luke.
