Commissioned by the new GE Advanced Research & Technology Center in Qata, MotoArt has developed a high flying reception desk that not only enhances the greeting area but also adds meaning to the interior decoration. The GE-747 Cowling Desk, as the MotoArt calls its desk, salvaging the old airplane parts incorporates the nacelle off the CF6-50 engine, first used for KLM’s 747 aircraft in 1975, together with GE’s high-bypass turbofan engines. The Cowling Desk takes its shape by splitting the high-sheen engine into equal halves, to be used as an exterior, which further is developed with bamboo desktops and polished aluminum caps, enhancing the decor as well as the environment.
