Use it the way you want! Probably, it was the driving force that led to the creation of WPW fruit bowl. Where keeping its spiky side downward and two-layered stainless steal tray on it would serve the purpose of quite a decent bowl to keep sliced fruits, doing just the opposite - keeping spiky part upwards and the tray below – would be a bit freaky, still presentable way to dish out whole fruit.
