Urban homes are fast turning into compact apartments where residents sometimes have to compromise on luxury and have to share the bathroom with other people. Providing a solution, Turkish designer Onur Müştak Çobanli has designed a compact bathroom, of course for men, that creates a buffer space for men inside/outside your regular bathroom. Dubbed the “Erk,” the personal bathroom system includes a small mirror and ceramic sink required for brushing teeth, washing hands and shaving. The bathroom system also includes metal faucet and a lamp, all embedded on a wood or metal stand. With the Erk Bathroom System, now you won’t have to wait in distress while your partner takes forever to finish.

I suspect rather strongly that what makes it ”for men” is that men can pee in the sink, that is the only gender specific thing about the design that I can see in the photo, notice how the sink is so low compared to the mirror? Men are taller on average and likely to want a higher sink for washing up and shaving. Additionally notice how the bowl of the sink seems to be tilted forward, I wont go into anatomical detail on that one, but you get my drift.
I don’t know how you do it, but your blog continually presents me with hilarious/awesome design material. The personal bathroom for men seems like something that American’s will initially shun, be super popular in Europe, and in five years everyone in the US will have one! Thanks for the great content!
