Endless Nile -- The 'perpetual table' by Karim Rashid
Aneez | Mar 6 2008

There are several factors that go into making any design successful, but, surprisingly, there is just a single, often-overlooked factor, viz the boundaries of geometry, which acts as the strongest resistance during the whole process of designing. A designer who succumbs to the rigidity of geometry is destined to remain in a nutshell, whereas someone who breaks free from the tentacles of geometry comes out the real winner.

Karim Rashid definitely belongs to the latter category. ‘Endless Nile’ is the perfect testimony of his rebellious nature. This aesthetic table by Karim Rashid is inspired by the slow, continuous flow of the Nile river, and incorporates the concept of a table and a chair in a single piece of furniture. Try categorizing this furniture into any fixed shape and you’ll ridicule yourself. Its a masterpiece that oozes fluidity and fluency of design.
