Designed by Christopher Young, the “ELDAS 1) is a small car that can work well in urban environments but is powerful enough for a drive on the highway as well. The ELDAS concept features a line of three electric vehicles, where ELDAS 1 is an open wheel roadster, ELDAS 2 is a sports hatchback and ELDAS 3 is a GT Coupe. Power comes from liquid cooled 3 phase electric motors fitted within each specifically designed wheel; brake rotors are attached to the wheel rather than being attached to the hub. Range for the electric vehicle running on lithium ion batteries varies from 90 to 150 miles while the top speed lies between 130mph to 140mph. The BMW influence shows itself clearly in the kidney grilles on the concept. The car is constructed using lightweight materials like Aluminum honeycomb composites, Carbon Fiber, High strength alloy steel.
