Twist the Cubic Meter as you like
Gabriel A | Jun 13 2008

The aptly named Cubic Meter is a modular unit that is initially a cube with dimensions of one meter. Its seven individual modules can be taken apart and reconfigured into other forms. It is presented as storage system, but it seems its design is also suitable for other uses such as shelving, as one of photos below shows. It is shown available in black oak, brown finish, and aluminum. I’m guessing it should have a set of instruction accompanying it, because the method for using it as storage does not seem apparent at first glance, although one could probably discern it by trial and error. It was presented at the Design Miami Show in Basel, where I’m guessing it was very appealing as an exhibition item. Its appeal seems to be great amongst art connoisseurs, but it does not seem very functional to the regular user, which would explain why barely more than 15 units were made. All that said, I appreciate the creativity behind its modular design and would like to try using one if it became more widely available.
