Braun relinquishes brawn with new line of finesse products

To say the least, this is a bold new design initiative by Braun, a company best known for their electric shavers. However, this is not too much of a diversification, since Braun has been making some kitchen appliances for a while now. The main novelty factor about the toaster design is the finesse of the delicate pattern; the angle of the toaster, and the back-lit touch-sensitive buttons. The angle is said to be meant to vent the heat away from the bottom of wood cabinets, reducing fire hazards for small apartments in the city. These intricate features, and the four slots, make it seem out of place that a toaster such as this should bear the Braun logo. Compare the Braun toaster to Daniel Thomas’ see-through DTO8 toaster If you think this is strange, then consider two other products, a mobile phone and a music player, all proposed as Braun products. This is why the designer of these products, Joe Doucet, declared ‘There is no Braun-ness anymore.’
