Booklifier takes reading experience to a whole new level
Naveen | Feb 25 2009

The experience of reading a story book won’t be the same again with the Booklifier. Designed by Noa Dvoskin, the Booklifier offers a way to enhance your feelings while reading by creating extreme reactions toward the text. The designer quotes an example to explain his concept. If someone is reading a horror novel and is imagining himself traveling in a dark forest, his feeling of fear would be “X.” The Booklifier increases this fear level to X+5. In a nutshell, the Booklifier puts you right into a particular story. The included hand device perceives the physiological measurements that the body transmits and determines the atmosphere. This acts as a third party between the subject and the atmosphere that will be created. The device touches the hand in the four points in which physiological measures are calculated to evaluate a feeling.

The earphone, very much like the pillow, produces sounds and colors (in the form of light). This process translates the feeling measure into an audio-visual scene and creates the atmosphere. The pillow does the same thing as the earphone. The Booklifier (book + amplifier) looks to be a great thing to enhance the book reading experience, but then, it’s just a concept and might never see the light of day.

Thanks, Noa Dvoskin

I wish I had a hog in need of a bath, ’cause this is complete and utter hogwash.

And

”The device touches the hand in the four points in which physiological measures are calculated to evaluate a feeling.”

isn’t even English.
