Beijing Creative Zone expands urbanity in nature
Naresh Chauhan | Nov 17 2009

Winner of the competition to develop a creative zone in Yanqing, Beijing (China), the UNstudio has developed a master plan to create a space that blends urbanity and nature to provide a new open learning environment. Spreading over 210 sqm area, the creative zone comprises two different divisions, the greenbelt and the urban fabric. The greenbelt provides a natural landscape, while on the other hand, the urban fabric is formed by interlinking two diverse though highly unified strips. Based on the Chinese garden’s emphasis of “one view per step,” the architectural park, ateliers and pavilions implement the four clusters of a products life cycle, “think, develop, produce and sell” as a continuous loop of activity. The creative zone not only supports modern architecture but also helps in sustaining the environment.
