Armchair Joelle: A chic piece of multifunction furniture from Riccardo Giovanetti
Jayaprashanth | May 22 2008

Designer Riccardo Giovanetti is the latest among the growing club of designers trying their level best to design multi-function furniture. The Joelle Armchair is Giovanetti’s multi-function offering which comes in the form of two cushions in a neat looking bag. The bag, in an unzipped form can be used as a table to hold a few knick knacks. To access the armchair function, you unzip the bag partially to take out a cushion which can act as a footrest to soothe your tired limbs after a hard days work. The bag in partially unzipped form becomes the armchair with the bag itself forming the arms of the armchair. This makes the Armchair Joelle a practical piece of furniture that looks very good and saves a lot of space too. Meanwhile, the Armchair Joelle was displayed at the Milan Furniture Fair that happened in April.

Hey I like this concept. This would surely be welcomed by those of us who are perennialy suffering from space shortage. I like the way the ’bag’, in a partially unzipped state, looks like a coat collar. When not in use, this unique piece of furniture can be easily stashed away somewhere. Really neat.
