Apple Bicycle for a green ride with all Apple gadgetry
Naresh Chauhan | Feb 6 2009

We have already covered a number of portable bike designs in the past, but the one that I am posting right now is perhaps one of the most unique bike concepts we have covered lately. Inspired by the uniqueness and popularity of the Apple products, designer Jake Foley has come up with an innovative bike that will incorporate latest technology in a neat and clean design. Essentially intended for the young urban bike riders, who need technologically sound transportation to move around, the Apple bicycle includes an iPod scroll wheel to place or possibly charge the PMPs, laptop case for notebook, and magnetic wheels to make commuting quick and effortless. Powered by hydraulic fluids, the bike doesn’t require chains, and easily folds into a compact size to be carried inside a building. The Apple bicycle is truly a stylish vehicle that not only incorporates modern technology but also helps the commuters play their part to support the eco drive going on across the world.

it’s really, really ugly. I doubt there’s anyone who’d actually buy it.

I agree with you, but the mac fans love anything about apple, even the ugly ones.

This is ugly — but interesting. What’s the laptop for? Just to be transported? Isn’t this really just a laptop you can ride?

All impracticality of the bike design aside, the magnetic wheels would probably take some force to move, and what about brakes — magnetic too? I would like to see an actual iPod application used on a bicycle, though.

Unique laptop carrier? Sure. But as a bicycle it is a complete failure on so many levels. I’m sure there are some Apple fanatics that would pay big bucks for a Steve Jobs signature model though!

It’s a very interesting project. Even it seems a little hard for a ride (where should the rider be seated at? That ’stick’? No thanks) the idea of magnetic wheels and power is very promising, imho.
Good work, Jake.

what the f.u.c.k is this, you realy dont know the meaning of design do you?

nice post, thank you

It’s concept art not a product.. it’s not a final representation but a communication of an idea.

I like it, final product would need to be a lot more cleaner than the concept and would need more of the apple design touch :-).

I like the laptop carry case idea and folding up for storage.

I’d consider buying one for practicality of commuting.

I agree, I am am the avid apple fan that you guys keep writing about, I love mac products, and not too ashamed to say it. I am also a huge mountain bike fan that happens to study product design, I have to give credit to some points here though, the case built into the frame is great for commuters that want to cycle, fair enough it doesn’t look like an apple product (i know that its white and has an apple logo, cheers), but it doesn’t look like a real apple product, that does not take away from what has been made though. so fair play to the designer, why not. Its a good idea that needs a bit of tweaking here and there.
