Displayed at the new modern wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Anima Terra (living earth or landscape in Latin) by Yves Behar (Fuseproject) is a lab project sculpture that looks like a living landscape, animated by glowing LED lights, that keeps changing its colors. Sponsored by Samsung, the neoclassical design, inspired by a recurring theme of one of the previous works by the designer, makes use of light to epitomize the ‘inner glow’ or ‘life within’ in a ‘static object.’ The experimental sculpture is finished with thin layers of formed metal that lit within and defuse a range of inner lighting expressions. The designer has smartly fused the artificial in the natural by employing the LED technology to kindle the inner conscious.
